Cape Code Relay for Operation Smile Train
Site Coordinator: Crissy Markova
The Harvard School of Dental Medicine Class of 2012 students are running in the 2011 Cape Relay. The relay takes place on May 6th-7th and covers 200 miles from Borderland State Park to Provincetown, MA. The runners will be running around 16-17 miles each.
Our team of 12 runners, has committed to run this race to raise money for Operation Smile, which has recently joined forces with Smile Train to become an even larger non-profit called Operation Smile Train.
A little information about the organization: Operation Smile’s network of volunteers works worldwide to repair childhood facial deformities (such as cleft lip and palate). Every year, more than 200,000 children are born with severe cleft conditions — often preventing them from being able to speak, eat, smile, or socialize. Many times, these children are shunned and rejected from their peers and communities. Operation Smile provides safe, effective, and free reconstructive surgery for children born with these debilitating facial deformities.
Oral Health Across Nations has made a donation towards helping the team achieve it's goal of $10,000!
