Oral Health Across Nations

Las Juntas, Costa Rica

This site in Costa Rica is a small village called Las Juntas and is located on the pacific (west) side of the country. Every year students from Muhlenberg College visit this town to perform independent research projects that the students themselves create about oral health education. The main location for material distribution is at a public school that is in much need of supplies in addition to the education they received over the years. This effort is led by Dr. Richard Niesenbaum who goes every year with the students and has been doing so for over twenty years. He has become very close with the town’s people and has much insight into the children's needs. OHAN is able to help 3rd and 4th graders with dental supplies, who would otherwise not have access to oral health care.
